Protecting Our Precious Resource!

Bayside Beach is a gem for all association members to enjoy.  With privileges, come responsibilities. One such responsibility is to follow established rules, including state and federal laws.

NEW BOAT RAMP: Our boat ramp has undergone an amazing renovation.  In order to protect the investment made in upgrading the boat ramp, it is imperative that boaters use the ramp properly.  (Improper usage of the boat ramp may damage the integrity of the ramp or may damage the boats being loaded or unloaded.) No power loading or power unloading is permitted EVER! Surveillance cameras are going to be installed to provide the ability to determine if misuse of the boat ramp is occurring. Members who misuse the ramp will be fined the first time and will lose their beach membership upon further infraction.

NEW LAW: Michigan’s Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act has been amended with changes for boaters and anglers that took effect March 21, 2019. The changes are intended to strengthen protection for Michigan waterways against the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species.

  • For Boaters – Prior to the amendment, the law only required that a person not place watercraft or trailers in the waters of Michigan if an aquatic plant was attached.  The new changes require all the following prior to transporting any watercraft over land: (1) Remove ALL drain plugs. (2) Drain all water from any live wells and bilges. (3) Ensure that the watercraft, trailer and any conveyance used to transport the watercraft or trailer are free of aquatic organisms, including plants.
  • For Anglers – (1) A person shall not release baitfish in any waters of this state. (2)A person who catches fish other than baitfish in the lake, stream, Great Lake, or connecting waterway shall only release the fish in that body of water where the fish was caught. Unused baitfish should only be disposed of on land.
